What is osteopathy?
Osteopathy uses manual therapy and exercise to treat musculoskeletal issues (relating to muscles, bones, joints, tendons and ligaments).
An osteopath is trained to understand how the body works and moves as a whole. As well as considering the area of pain, they will also assess whether an imbalance or weakness elsewhere in your body may be the reason for that pain. Treating the underlying cause may have greater success than focussing only on the area which hurts.
Osteopaths often use techniques that are also used by physiotherapists and chiropractors to treat the issues they identify. In Australia, osteopaths are registered health professionals who have completed approved university training.

Let us answer your questions
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No, you don’t need a referral to see our osteopath, but we do welcome patients who have been referred from their GP or other health provider.
What should I expect from my first visit?
In your first appointment, our osteopath will speak with you about the concerns that have led to your visit. Please bring any x-rays or other scans or reports which might be relevant. Our osteopath will assess your situation and discuss options with you before starting treatment.
How many appointments will I need?
This will depend on your own unique circumstances. In some cases, our osteopath will provide a single treatment for relief from a minor strain, for example, but typically treatment involves a series of appointments to provide long-term improvements, or ongoing management for chronic conditions.
Do I need to join your exercise classes too?
Our osteopath may recommend exercise as part of your treatment. In some cases, he will provide exercises for you to do at home, otherwise our personalised exercise classes provide an opportunity for you to exercise under the supervision of a trained professional, and with specialist equipment.
